Eleven briefs, twelve films.

Each case starts with what the brand needed the film to do, then shows the film. Press play: every video loads only when you ask for it.

A launch in two films. Tease first, then explain.

For Bexton's new generation of air coolers, Story Design made two 3D animations: a dark, cinematic launch teaser for the range (“Coming soon”, “Crafted for every space”, “Powerful”, with tank capacities from 15 to 200 litres) and a bright feature film for the 16-inch cooler that opens up the high-speed motor, the 15-litre water tank, and inverter-compatible, energy-saving operation.

Where the films run

One 3D scene, a dozen places to play.

Because every film is built from a 3D scene, not a one-off shoot, each one can be re-cut for every screen it needs, and re-rendered for new colours or models later.

  • LaunchLaunch events and dealer meetsThe big-screen version, with sound, for the reveal.
  • AdsDigital and TV ads6, 15 and 30 second cut-downs in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.

Honest about AI. We use generative AI where it serves the story, alongside 3D animation and live footage, all directed, edited and finished by our studio. AI-generated people and places are labelled where platforms and advertising guidelines require it, as the Agilon film does on screen.

Brand and logo teasers
Five to twenty seconds that make a mark or a range memorable.
Ad cut-downs
16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 versions, with 6, 15 and 30 second edits for each platform.

How the work runs

From CAD to final cut.

Five stages, with a review at the end of each, so nothing is rendered twice.

  1. Script and storyboardWhat the viewer must remember, frame by frame, with timings.
  2. 3D model from CADThe product's own CAD files cleaned up for animation; built from drawings if there is no CAD.
  3. Look developmentMaterials, colours, finishes and lighting matched to the real product.
  4. Animation and renderCamera moves, exploded views and effects, rendered in full resolution.
  5. Edit, sound and cut-downsMusic, sound design, supers and every format the media plan needs.
Notes · quick answers

3D product animation, in brief.

The same answers appear in the Story Design FAQ.

01

What is 3D product animation?

3D product animation is computer-generated video of a product built from 3D models. It shows features, internal mechanisms, exploded views and use cases that are hard or expensive to film.

02

Does Story Design make 3D animations?

Yes. Story Design has produced 100+ 3D animations for product advertisements and corporate videos. Animations are built from the product's own CAD data, so details and proportions are accurate, and they are used for launches, digital and TV ads, exhibition screens and e-commerce listings.

03

Why use 3D animation instead of a live product shoot?

3D animation can start from CAD before production samples exist, can show the inside of a product and how parts fit together, and can be updated for new colours or variants without a new shoot.

04

How long does a 3D product animation take?

A 30 to 60 second 3D product animation typically takes two to four weeks from script and storyboard to final render, once the product's 3D data is available. Longer films, many variants or character animation take more time.

05

What do you need to make a 3D product animation?

The product's 3D CAD files (STEP, IGES or native files), colour and finish references, the logo and brand guidelines, and a list of the features to show. If there is no CAD, a 3D model can be built from drawings, photographs or a physical sample.
